Freehold Picks for Friday 8/20

So sorry I missed posting for Thursdays card but other matters were pressing. We did fair on Wednesdays selections with 4 winners. On the mythical $100 bets we returned $72.80. I would probably do better to ignore exotics and bet to win, you might too, but it's fun to take a chance for decent payouts. On to Fridays selections.

I'm throwing out the last on top choice because I don't know the driver. Prior to that she has had either bad trips, bad posts or interference. I think Andy get's her there. Princess Julia appears to be the one to beat but she's rather a recent phenom. 0 wins in 20 starts last year.

Aries Angel shows one bad line where she was parked the entire mile. Catapult and Mojarra Hanover both raced well off tough trips in last.

I'm not high on her but she is fresh and has raced well at this track before. Rules Little Man gets edge with the rail but I'm counting on class to overcome.

Flex The Muscle gets David Miller, the rail, and has beaten 7 of the other 9 horses in the race. Dolce Ducci is one that he hasn't beaten and appears to be a talented colt if he stays trotting. And if you are wondering Peace Bridge is the other colt never beaten by Flex. He shouldn't be discounted.

I'm not sure how Cat Manzi manages to get parked going to the first quarter from the rail but this is the second time I've seen that with his horses in two days. I was tempted to put L Dees on top. I'll just box the exacta.

These assigned post position races are usually pretty realistic about the best horses. If you want a live longshot consider #2 SF Aceinthehole.

I'm Betting On You has been rested and is being brought back by a trainer with 14% win record off layoff. Not to mention the mare is 50% 1st or 2nd out of 8 tries on this track. The clear favorite will be #2 Orphan Annie, as she should be, but without a line on a half mile track I'll pass.

Both choices appear to be the class of the field, they both race well at Freehold, and #4 Gets David Miller.

#1 Appears to be much the best here. The only reason I list #7 is perhaps Abbatiello has figured this guy out. He's moving up, but why?

Though Fancy Pants win wasn't impressive last out I suspect he needed the race off layoff. He'll do better here. Western Sweetreet seems to have the class to beat the rest.

Freehold Picks for Wednesday 8/18

Hey all! My first post. I'm a big fan of Freehold racing and will make picks frequently. I especially love listening to Larry Lederer making race calls. He's accurate and funny as hell.

I will pick a top choice for each race and include underneaths for exotics at times. If you want to take a chance on playing my picks I'd suggest WPS on my top pick and include underneaths in exotics. If one of my underneath is good odds you may want to consider WPS there as well.

Just to make it interesting, I'm going to start with a mythical $100 and list the bets that I would make. Best of luck to all of you.

Joe Holloway and Erv Miller both have excellant records with 2yo's. I give the edge to Steve Smith from the rail.

The big question is whether either of these colts can navigate a half mile track. If so, Touch Me should jog. Vigneron gets the call because the Ingrassia outfit is known for doing well with young trotters.

Allie Reynolds usually has hers ready after layoffs winning 22% of the time. PJF loves Freehold 1st, 2nd or 3rd 57% of the time in 65 starts. Gamblers Delight is also coming off layoff and showed speedy yet unimpressive qualifier at the BigM. He's accostumed to bad post positions and fits well here.

Same story different race, trond puts up driver to win. Win Doctor looks the best off last but I'll take my chances.

Pilgrims Truffles went a huge mile from the 10 hole last out. Born to Love comes from a barn that wins 20% of the time with first time starters. Consider Don't Cry Lindy my sentimental choice.

Ariane Hanover may be tailing off but there's not much to beat here. Same is true with Jimmy the Terror, easy to see these two 5 lengths ahead of the rest of the field.
